As we close out 2024, we want to reflect on some of the big new features — as well as the small but mighty improvements — we delivered this year to make your business communications more efficient and reliable.

From new call handling capabilities to time-saving AI features and enhanced workflows that simplify your daily tasks, 2024 was all about making OpenPhone more powerful and flexible to meet your unique business needs.

That's not all — we know how critical reliability is, which is why we've worked tirelessly to enhance the performance and dependability of OpenPhone, ensuring a smoother, faster, and more reliable experience across all your devices.

This year, we introduced features to give you greater control over how incoming calls are managed:

• Set custom call routing rules based on whether it's inside or outside your designated business hours. 
• Automatically redirect calls to another number within your OpenPhone workspace or to an external number, such as an answering service.
• Direct calls to an audio recording without offering the option to leave a voicemail.
• Customize auto-replies for missed calls when the caller doesn't leave a voicemail. 

Last but not least, we launched the beta version of a new visual call flow builder, designed to save you time, simplify call management, and create more powerful call flows. Stay tuned for the full release in 2025.

Across your workspace, we've added new features and improvements to help you stay organized, work more efficiently, and make everything run a little smoother.

• Call views lets you filter, find, and organize calls in a dedicated view. 
• See who's viewing a conversation to collaborate seamlessly in your inbox.
• Jump back to where you were with "recently viewed" on the desktop app. 

• AI contact suggestions saves you time by pre-filling contact details like name and company when you receive a voicemail or record a call.

• Data export lets admins export CSVs of contacts, call logs, and message logs right from your workspace settings.
  

• We updated the call activity modal to show why a call was missed so you know if you need to take action.

• Auto-replies have a new design to distinguish them from your team's messages, providing clearer context to your past interactions. 

We know how important it is to work while you're on the go, so we brought more functionality from the web app to iOS and Android, while also making significant improvements to call stability and reliability. 

Android and iOS

• Schedule messages from the mobile apps when you want to plan ahead. 
• Inbox filters make it easy to find conversations in just a few taps. 

• Edit contact tags directly within the app to keep contacts up to date. 

• Save time with AI contact suggestions that pre-fill contact details like name and company when you receive a voicemail or record a call.

• AI message suggestions let you start new chats faster with message prompts.

Android

• Android Auto support lets you answer calls, read messages, and reply directly from your car's display.

• Set your work schedule within the app's settings so your availability is always up to date.

• Improved offline support lets you view and manage your contacts even when you don't have an internet connection.

iOS

• Enhanced iPad support ensures a better experience on your tablet, including when you want to multi-task with Split View.

• A new shortcut lets you jump directly into conversations from notifications in the activity thread.

This fall, we launched the OpenPhone API, giving you the power to automate text messages, sync contacts and conversation data across your tools, build custom integrations, and much more.

• Trigger text messages based on custom criteria, such as sending scheduling reminders, shift confirmations, project updates, and more.
• Sync with your CRM to automatically create, update, edit, and delete contacts.
• Automatically sync messages, call logs, transcripts, and summaries with your CRM and other tools.
• Build custom integrations to seamlessly integrate texts, calls, and contacts into your tech stack create workflows tailored to your business.
